Hezarfen-Ahmed Celebi, story of a bird man

The events were reported by the great Ottoman traveler and writer Evliya Çelebi who said he did it after “eight or nine flapping” and taking advantage downwind, landing in the square of Doğancılar on the Asian shore of Üsküdar to 3,358 m. So Hezarfen became “the first son of God” who managed to cross flying over the sea from one continent to another also.

Among his audience was the Sultan Murad IV, watching from the Sinan Pasha mansion in Sarayburnu, who enthusiastically praised and rewarded him. The Sultan, the same who had rewarded with a bag of gold coins, following the advice of his advisors did not hesitate to invent a mission in Algeria, away from the Ottoman capital and his scientific tests.
Grabados_CelebiHezarfen, the first bird man in the history of mankind and the most important in the history of Turkish aviation died in exile in Algeria in 1640 at the age of 31. Today, just a small plaque in the hall on the seventh floor of the Galata tower, remind us the feat that a man without fear carried out. In addition, an aerodrome located in Istanbul Çatalca is named Sage Ahmet Çelebi Hezarfen in his memory.

    Qué historia tan curiosa. Todo el mundo conoce los estudios y los dibujos de Leonardo sobre las posibilidades de volar pero seguro que casi nadie sabía que este hombre llegó a conseguirlo realmente hace siglos…qué interesante!

    Me apasiona recuperar historias como esta. A menudo se confunde la realidad con la ficción, pero este caso es totalmente verídico. Su hermano,Lagari Hasan Çelebi,fue el primer aviador de cohetes. Con su rudimentario cohete fue propulsado hacia el cielo y cayó sobre el mar, resultando ileso apenas un año después de la hazaña de su hermano. Vaya familia inquieta, no?

    Recuerdo que en otra entrada también hacías mención a un puente diseñado por Leonardo da Vinci para el Cuerno de Oro, que nunca se construyó y que parece ser que ahora lo van a realizar, otro rastro de las huellas de Leonardo en Estambul, no?

    Me apasiona conocer esta parte de la historia de Turquía, inquietud que despertó con la novela acerca de la vida de Suleyman. En el colegio trataba de pasar de largo las clases, por lo enredado de sus traiciones, conquistas, derrotas. Ciertamente fue un imperio importantísimo, pero como no nos saben contar la historia de manera amena, nos cuesta aprenderla. Espero que su gente hoy en día no sea traicionera en busca del poder. La guerra de hoy le está haciendo mucho daño a mucha historia. Tampoco me gustaría que tanta belleza que alberga dolores, triunfos y fracasos, fuera destruida, como ha pasado en Iraq, Siria, Libia, Dios mediante.
